Laia has a sister, Eva, who is a good friend of my brother Pau.

This summer Laia and I are going to Britain to learn the language, English.

LA CAVALLADA

Many exhibitions and blessings for horses took place this spring throughout Catalan villages and towns. one of this village is Sant Pere Pescador, my village; where the blessing of horses has a long tradition. Innumerable riders came in fancy riding dresses, riding down the roads and to either the church or Plaça Major.
The riders don't have to starve or suffer thirst -they are offered special pastries (Brunyols), it's typical in this zone; and wine from the villages.
In Sant Pere Pescador , the blessing of horses is traditionally taking palace on the Plaça Major.
This year, riders ang guests seized the beautiful day and met in the park near the river for a bit on the show.

SANT JORDI-23/04

Nowadays the day of “Sant Jordi” is a special day. People are very happy because they work a short day, They plan to have some free time to go out to the town centre and visit the special market with stalls selling books and roses.
Men give a rose to their wife or girlfriend, and women give a book to their husband or boyfriend. Not only lovers buy roses and books, some men buy roses for their colleagues and everybody buys a book for their friend or themselves.
Some schools have stalls to raise money for their end of course trips. At schools teachers organize different activities related to literature like writing poems or short stories, reading texts or watching films. Finally the best ones receive a prize.
At home it is a special day, because my fater is called Jordi and my parents celebrate their wedding aniversary, so we have a dinner party.
Don’t forget to congratulate Jordis an Jordines.

the SPRING in costa Brava.

Spring has come at last, in costa Brava, right in time for Easter. We enjoy long walks in the mild spring air, enchanted by the beauty of the blossoming flowers. We regain the will to live and love, we are longing for warmth, light and colours and we reawaken our senses. Energy, exercise, sun, blue sky, singing birds, the sea – spring rouses our spirits and a sunny intermezo on the beach is a real treat after the long cold winter.
Easter in Costa Brava, that meant to say farewell to the long grey winter.

Gentoo Penguin

Scientific classification
Kingdom: animal
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Bird
Order: Sphenisciformes
Family:Spheniscidae
Genus:Pygoscelis
Species:P. papua
Scientific name: Pygoscelis papua

The habitat of Gentoos breed on many sub-Antarctic islands. The main colonies are on the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Kerguelen Islands; smaller populations are found on other islands. The total breeding population is estimated to 300,000 pairs.
Gentoos live mainly on crustaceans such as krill, with fish making up only about 15% of the diet. However, they are opportunistic feeders, and around the Falklands ( in the Malvinas islands) are known to take roughly equal proportions of fish, crustaceans and squid.

It is recognized by the wide white stripe extending like a bonnet across the top of its head. Chicks have grey backs with white fronts. Adult Gentoos measure 51 to 90 cm

The males
just before moulting have a maximum weight of about 8.5 kg.
the males just before mating have a minimum weight of about 4.9 kg.

The females
have a maximum weight is 8.2 kg just before moulting, but their weight drops to as little as 4.5 kg when guarding the chicks in the nest.

These penguins are the fastest underwater swimming penguins, reaching speeds of 36 km/h. The Gentoo is built for very cold weather environments, unlike its northern cousin the Magellanic Penguin, which is leaner and more mobile in terrestrial movement.

Status: Near Threatened

EASTER HOLIDAYS

Last Easter holidays I had a lot of homework, so I stayed home.
Normally we go away on holidays with my family, we have been to Amsterdam, Madrid, The Basc Country, but this year I was too busy and we didn't go away.

On Friday we went to Vic, to see some Friends who live there.

They showed us some of the towns in the area. We left Sant Pere, my village, at 8 am and when we arrived in Vic, we met to go to St. Miquel del Fai, a beautiful place built in the rocks, but it's also known for its wonderful waterfall.
When the visit was finished we looked for a restaurant in the town of Taradell.
after lunch we visited other towns, and the dam in Sau, which is completely full.
Next we walked arround the center of Vic, but the shops were closed.
Finally our friends took us to their hometown where we had dinner.
It was a tiring but enjoyable day.

On Saturday I went out with my friends. We went shopping and we had dinner together and to end the night we went to the disco.

The rest of the days I stayed home to do my homework and study for the next term.

THE SCHOOL UNIFORMS

I’m writing to tell you my opinión about schools uniforms.
On the other hand, schools uniforms are a good idea because you don’t change your clothes every, so you need at least two uniforms.
On the other hand, you can’t wear what you want, the thing. I don’t like is that we all wear the same clothes.

In conclusion wearing school uniforms is practical and you don’t have to choose your clothes every morning.

A DESCRIPTION

I went to Ireland last summer with my friend Julia. We met Raymond, we stayed with his family in their house for two weeks.
I think Raimond is an unsociable and unfriendly person, because he didn’t trust us. But I think in two weeks it is dificult to have a good relationship with an adult person.
On the other hand, he was responsible with his tow daughters. And he was strick but fair with them.
His wife Devora was sociable, practical and tolerant; because she tried to be friendly and nice to us.
Sometimes she was a bit impulsive and impatient, for example she had everything organized and when something went wrong she got angry.

He studies first course of ESO in Castelló d'Empùries, he used to go to La Salle Figueres.
He has studied music for seven years. He started playing the guitar and now he is learning to play the piano.
Another activity he likes doing is football, he plays in the team of st.Pere Pescador. Last year they won the league, but this season they are disappointed because they lose most of the games.
I have a good relationship with him but sometimes we argue about anything.
We have good days, and bad days, but I love my brother.
And this text is a very surprise for him.
I hope he likes it.
